NATURAL AND ENVIRONMENT

5-6 GRADES

One of the most important topics of our time. We all know that our nature is incredible not only for its beauty, but also for its strength. The way we treat our planet and its environment creates our world view and attitude to many things. Therefore, it is very important to bring this topic correctly to both adults and more mature students.

1.This worksheet is based on the song “California” by Frank Sinatra. This song is perfect for practicing topical vocabulary “Landscape”. It is also a good activity for warming up and developing listening and comprehension skills.The first page describes how to work with the song and gives some examples of possible exercises. The second page contains the text with gaps that must be filled in. 

2. It`s a nice song to make students share their opinions about pollution, crimes, commitment and other topics. It is also interesting to have students make connections between pictures and words (vocabulary) and then, make them check their predictions with the song (listening). The activities were designed to have students work  in pairs (otherwise you would need many copies, too). A nice follow up could be to make them design a campaign against deforestation, pollution, etc.

3. A fact is a thing that is known or proved to be true. An opinion is a belief, judgment, or way of thinking about something. Students read the sentences about nature and write fact or opinion on the line.

4. This workesheet was designed for intermediate or advanced students. After you have taught environmental problems, you can use this paper to follow up. Students are able to write an essay/composition doing a research on the internet. You can also use it to grade them.

5. Worksheet to practice ICT. Students have to find out information about Kew Gardens (London,UK). They can use Wikipedia or the official site. This worksheet will improve vocabulary and grammar. It develops several skills  such as listening and reading.
