In the post below, I talked about how important the correct handouts are for different age categories. Now I'd like to offer several options on the same topic (Home/House) for older students. 

  1. The famous Einstein's Riddle organised in a worksheet, with the reasoning to follow for the teacher. Great for those days when teens don't want to work. It can be used in all sorts of levels, since the objective is to make them think logically and speak about it. It's better if done in groups, as a competition.


2. This is a worksheet used to accompany topics on house and home. It features several popular phrasal verbs/idioms/proverbs and includes a gapfill exercise to check understanding. 

3. A list of exercises including vocabulary for rooms of the house, pieces of furniture, hygiene products and also professions. It's good to use as a review or a class plan, as it has a lot of conversation content. I used the logo of my English school, but it's changeable.

4.This worksheet is made with the help of the puzzle creator on this website on the topic home. A perfect variant for warming-up your students at the beginning of the lesson. This worksheet is suitable for teens or adults of the intermediate and upper-intermediate level.
5. This is a listening and speaking activity which would best suit upper intermediate and advanced classes. It is a short sketch by Alan Carr at the Apollo where he's talking about buying a property and how rough the area was. The worksheet pre-teaches unfamiliar vocabulary and phrases and then there is a listening comprehension section too. This allows the teacher and students to discuss subtleties of humour which might have been missed. There is a lot of interesting vocabulary and many of my students were advanced, but still hadn't heard some of the phrases. At the end, there are questions for students to discuss which focus more on buying property and the social issues that affect this in their countries.

A MINUTE FOR HANDOUTS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (10-11 GRADES) 1.  A worksheet to improve students vocabulary on the topics: science vs Technology. Students are asked to match some words related to the topic, with their correct definition. Key is included. It could be used as warm up activity or as a follow up activity on the issue. 2.  A worksheet to accompany season 6, episode 12 of Seinfeld. Students begin with a 'get to know the characters' activity before moving on to a collocations vocabulary activity and some pre-episode discussion questions.
